As an agency, Banks Sadler has organised numerous events over the years in Mauritius, including small incentives to large-scale global recognition events – so when offered a trip there, I jumped at the chance to find out what all the fuss was about.
The Indian Ocean island of Mauritius is a perfect place to host an incentive trip of a lifetime. It has an exceptional selection of luxurious hotels, bucket list activities and fine gourmet cuisine, and delegates can be taken on an amazing journey through the paradise island filled with mountains, rainforests and white sandy beaches.
Who hosted us?
I was hosted by Pearl Representation, representing Emotions Destination Management who partnered with Air Mauritius, Starwood Hotels, Beachcomber Hotels and Tourism Mauritius.
Emotions DMC lived up to their reputation and provided an outstanding unique concierge service throughout, handcrafting our itinerary whilst leveraging the authenticity of the destination through the five senses.
What did we do?
The first day we were surprised with a helicopter transfer across the island, followed by a speedboat transfer to an exclusive private island where we had lunch and the opportunity to snorkel in the crystal clear turquoise waters. Later that evening we dined under the stars on the beach, cooking our own grilled seafood whilst fire entertainers and a local Mauritian band provided the night’s entertainment.
The following day we swam with wild dolphins at sunrise, interacted with the lions at the lion reserve, drove quad bikes through a game reserve and discovered the spectacular scenery and natural wildlife of the island. Later that day we launched at Eureka House – one of the islands best-loved historic sites; a stately Creole mansion built in 1830 and formally a sugar plantation owned by French and British aristocrats.
