London has a packed schedule of openings this year from design-led venues and awaited hotel debuts to bold basement bars and opulent private dining room. Here are the top venue and hotel openings for your private dining and events in 2019…
Camden House | Opened January 2019
Overlooking Camden Lock among the famous market, Camden House is a newly opened venue for North London. Split into four stylish zones, the venue is a modern showcase of chic furnishings among a bright, airy blank canvas, complete with a private bar and retractable roof. A 2.30am license makes it a top choice for parties and celebrations of up to 900 standing whilst conferences and dinners can accommodate 80 – 550 guests.
Tonight Josephine | Launched 11th January
The latest opening in Shoreditch’s Hoxton Square is a new space from the well-known brand, Adventure Bar, the face behind the likes of The Escapologist and Bar Elba. Following their initial Waterloo debut, the latest Tonight Josephine is a pretty in pink bar inspired by Napoleon’s party animal wife, and girl power. Naturally the venue makes a rather Instagrammable backdrop for parties, events and looking cool to your clients, of varying capacities.
Vintry and Mercer Hotel | Bookings from 4th February
Following its initial 2018 opening date, Kensington’s Ampersand Hotel will soon get its baby sister in The City as the awaited Vintry and Mercer opens its doors in February. The 92 bedroom hotel promises a contemporary twist on the historic wine and textile trade that took place on its site, as well as a new Asian eatery, sweeping terrace and retro basement bar. You’ll also find three private rooms for small scale events, each meticulously decorated according to its name. The Library, the largest of which, holds up to 35 and can spill into the Drawing Room for larger meetings.
art-otel London Battersea | Opening 2019
Crossing the waters for a UK debut is the art’otel’s latest property, set around the Grade II listed Battersea Power Station. 160 rooms will boast panoramic views in addition to a show stopping Roof Garden designed by the team behind the New York Skyline. A restaurant, skyline bar and meeting space are also within the plans that look to follow the brand’s signature artistic style.

One of London’s most anticipated venues for 2019 comes from the team behind the Printworks, located in the heart of Greenwich Peninsula. Steel walkways, glass skyline walls and stained black interiors are expected within the impressive blank canvas but its selling point is most definitely its size. Almost 24,000 sq. m of space makes it the largest of its kind in the city, compromising of a 3,000 indoor capacity and feature outdoor showground hosting a further 7,000 people.
The Court | Opening spring 2019
Carnaby’s newest members club will take the place of the legendary Bag O’Nails venue in early spring this year, where Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles once performed. An almost-equally impressive team will replace its famous residents with world renowned Ryan Chetiyawardana providing the drinks and Michelin star Tom Sellers designing the menu. Live music will continue at the club as well as a selection of intimate space promised to be as charming as its predecessor.
Illuminate Science Museum | Opening 1 March 2019
Level 4 and 5 of Kensington’s Science Museum will soon open as ‘Illuminate’, an exciting new event space boasting panoramic open views of London with a stream of natural light. The space has a capacity of up to 450 and acts as a progressive blank space for events.
Hard Rock Hotel | Opening spring 2019
Much talk has been had over the Hard Rock’s first UK hotel which will launch this spring in Marble Arch. The 900 bedroom property promises to breathe the brand’s rocky royalty style through a heavy display of memorabilia and new performance venue. The hotel will also add a new signature restaurant, Rock spa and speakeasy to the city.
Events @ No 6 | Opening January 2019
Coming to the heart of The City, Events @ No 6 is a purpose-built venue, compromising of a selection of airy meeting rooms, open spaces and a brand new rooftop terrace. With capacities of up to 200 guests, the venue is an exciting new option from the Vacherin portfolio; joining the likes of Workspace and London Stock Exchange.
Bob Bob Cité | Opening 25 March 2019
After changing its name and opening date, the sister restaurant from Bob Bob Ricard is finally opening its doors this year. Located in The Leadenhall Building, the new Bob Bob Cité will offer French cuisine to up to 190 covers across two dining rooms. Private dining will also be offered in three spaces overlooking the city.
120 Fenchurch Street | Opening spring 2019
Coming soon from the D&D group is a 14th floor restaurant at 120 Fenchurch Street, a new structure adjacent the Leadenhall Building. Below the public Crystal Garden and with a promise of skyscraper views, the eatery it’s the brand’s largest new venture and will be a big hit on the city’s private dining scene.
The Prince Akatoki | Opening 2019
Japan’s Prince Hotels will be opening their first of the Akatoki brand this year and have seemingly picked London as their first destination. The five-star luxury fusion, as it is described, will take over the prior Arch Hotel within walking distance of Oxford Circus. Details including the opening date are being kept hush hush but it promises to deliver an authentic Japanese experience with an emphasis on mindfulness, tranquillity and service.
Manhattan Loft Gardens | Opening spring 2019
Overlooking the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be a new 41 floor hotel inspired by 1950’s New York. The Manhattan Loft Gardens has been designed as a social hub with the catchphrase ‘spend the night, stay the week or move in for good’, and they really mean it. 145 Scandi-style rooms take over the first six stories as a part of the Stratford hotel plus an additional 248 long term apartments, variety of restaurants, lounge spaces and communal sky garden. Four large event spaces are also in the mix complete with panoramic views.
The Standard, Kings Cross | Opening 2019
A little later than originally planned and still without an opening date, The Standard is said to be opening this year on Argyle Street, bringing the brand’s unconventional culture all the way from the States. 266 rooms have been confirmed as well as a ground-floor bar and rooftop restaurant. There’s also a rumour of a recording studio within the six storey extension.
