2018 is set to be an exciting year for hotels in New York with new boutique and branded properties including Marriott, Virgin and the Hoxton’s long awaited debut. In this blog we share the most anticipated openings for the year ahead…
The second hotel from the famous Cipriani family behind the Mr. C Beverley Hills hotel will come to New York City as a part of the Seaport District renovation. 66 contemporary bedrooms, event space for 100 and an onsite restaurant will serve as a luxury retreat among busy views of the East River and Brooklyn Bridge.
The soon to open Marriott AC Hotel will blend a Spanish urban approach to the classic Marriott interiors with 290 sleek bedrooms, tapas menus and a skyline rooftop bar overlooking Times Square. Stretching over 21 floors, the tower hotel will include 3765 sq ft of meeting space across 4 rooms.
Making ‘Wall Street feel like home’, the Artezen Hotel will bring modern luxury to Lower Manhattan. 89 suites, a yoga centre and gym, and chic cocktail lounge with rooftop views will make this hotel a gem within the Financial District.
The Hoxton’s anticipated move to the USA will arrive in summer, ready for a spectacular opening within the Williamsburg neighbourhood. 175 bedrooms bring a new take on the brand’s classically stylish interiors yet in keep with their passion for instilling local influence. Set in the former Rosenwach factory will be 3 restaurants, courtyard spaces, a rooftop bar and the Apartment; a curated meeting space.
One of 2018’s larger openings is brought to Times Square by EDITION, one of 7 properties launching for the brand this year. The hotel will provide ample space for events with a 5000 sq ft performance venue, 1900 sq ft meeting studio and 5800 sq ft beer garden and event deck, as well as onsite restaurant and 452 bedrooms.
Marriott’s second opening takes us to lower Manhattan with classic designs and local accents, continuing the Spanish influence with tapas and European breakfasts. 274 minimalistic guest rooms, a fitness suite and meeting space will be onsite.
CitizenM brings a second property to the Big Apple, this time on the lower East Side in the form of a boutique hotel with 19 storeys of affordable style. 300 rooms give wall-to-wall views of Manhattan whilst downstairs, canteenM serves 24/7 food from an open kitchen. Then there’s the lobby, designed like a New York living room with filled bookshelves and cosy furniture.
A 476 foot Virgin Hotel is climbing its way up the New York skyline in Broadway. Over 35 floors will contain approximately 465 rooms, a rooftop bar, outdoor pool and spa. The lower level complex will also host a number of high-end retailers.
The Ace Hotel group are bringing their minimalistic vibe to New York later this year with a 200 room hotel ‘Sister City’. The property will be stripped back to its essentials with unusual inspiration taken from Finnish saunas, Japanese bento boxes and what is truly needed for the modern traveller. Apparently this includes plants, a roof terrace, 130 seater restaurant and a garden entrance.
