Did you know that flying to St Lucia from London is quicker than flying to Miami?
St Lucia offers multiple hotel choices for incentive trips; from all-inclusive packages, to once in a lifetime experience staying in ocean-front boutique style villas, to luxury all-inclusive health and fitness resorts hidden in lush green mountainous surroundings situated next to St Lucia’s most extraordinary natural harbour.
Transfers from the airport to a resort can take between ten minutes to an hour, where you’ll drive across the small island along the windy mountain roads, overlooking breath-taking scenery and all the plants and animals that live there. If your transfer time is more than anticipated, then local ground agents can offer creative ideas to keep the group energised and excited about the trip.
I was personally lucky enough to visit ten resorts during the St Lucia Tourism Board MICE FAM Trip, providing me with an exceptional insight on what is available for Incentive Buyers!
Here are some of my recommendations…
For small groups I would recommend Capella Marigot, one of St Lucia’s most luxurious resorts, surrounded by lush green mountains and beautiful tropical gardens, providing ample space for individuals or couples to have some rest and relaxation time. Capella Marigot was a personal favourite of mine; I can’t praise enough this hotel, from the luxurious accommodation, incredible staff, delicious food to its exclusive location. The only downfall with this resort is that it does not offer access to the beach, as it is set on Capella Marina, Saint Lucia’s foremost berthing destination for premier yachts from around the world.
Not having direct access does not have to stop you going to the beach, as individuals or groups can take a private boat transfer to a nearby beach soaking up the Caribbean Sea on their way. Incentive groups can be taken by boat to Jade Mountain – one of St Lucia’s most exclusive and must sea resorts. Jade Mountain offers guests a once in a lifetime experience to stay in a sanctuary (known as a suite to most people) that overlooks out to the Pitons and the Caribbean Sea. Each individual sanctuary has been designed with no windows, so you feel nestled into a mountain cave, with some sanctuary’s having their own private infinity pool. Whether you decide to stay at Jade Mountain or not, the resort has a tropical beach, scuba facilities, a chocolate making workshop and fantastic catering facilities for lunches, dinners and cocktail receptions. The resorts’ architecture alone is worth a visit.
For a larger incentive group, who might be willing to share with colleagues, couples or families; I would suggest The Landings Resort. The Landings Resort offers condo-style accommodation, plenty of space, fully equipped with all the amenities you desire plus some even have private Jacuzzis. The Landings has its own exclusive marina, offering great access for day trips by private boat or catamaran to explore the island or to even go further afield and head over to neighbouring islands like Martinique.
The Landings also has access to a glorious golden beach that looks out to Pigeon Island – the perfect spot to relax throughout the day or organise beach activities followed by a cocktail at sunset. My only drawback with The Landings was the limited restaurant and bar facilities within the resort for its size, but then with fully equipped accommodation, you might want to enjoy an evening in and cook yourself. Near to The Landings is Rodney Bay which offers numerous restaurants, beautiful resorts, nightlife, thrilling activities and a historically notorious marina – a real tourist hotspot.
Things not to miss: • Piton Mountains • Sulphur Springs (try mud-bathing) • Pigeon Island National Park • Fort Rodney • Castries Market • The former French port of Soufrière • Marigot Bay and Gros Islet
Overall view on St Lucia:
Hotels: An exceptional selection of high standard resorts – perfect for reward and recognition events
Food: Provides the perfect meal for every craving
Activities: Scuba, Sea Trek, Snorkelling, Zip Wiring, Mud Baths, Wine & Cheese Tasting, Spa Treatments, Rum Tasting
Destination: I would 100% consider St Lucia for an Incentive group who want to go further afield, have a budget to enjoy the fine things the destination offers and want to feel rewarded.
