With National Curry Week kicking off this week we’re whetting appetites with the top Indian restaurants with event space in London. So if you’re looking for an intimate private dining experience or a full venue hire we’ve selected our favourites from across the capital.
One of our favourite Indian restaurant chains in London, Dishoom brings edgy Bombay dining to the capital. Having expanded to four locations across London, their restaurants take you back to 1930s Bombay, with dishes such as chicken berry Britannia or chilli cheese toast. They have an extensive drinks menu on offer with exotic creations including chaijitos, monsoon martinis and bolly bellinis, and the venue can be hired exclusively for events.
Michelin starred Trishna is a South West Indian restaurant with a fine dining twist in the heart of Marylebone. Offering a lengthy menu including dishes such as tandoori grouse or wild goose seekh kebab they give a contemporary twist to their traditional style dishes. The restaurant has an intimate dining room for 12 guests overlooking their extensive wine cellar, and they offer an array of menus to entertain the taste buds.
Starting its life as a pop up in Brixton, Kricket now is a permanent fixture on Soho’s dining scene. Space is designed as a ‘modern memoir to Mumbai’ and incorporates exposed brick walls, sleek bar stools and an open kitchen. Their menu is Anglo-Indian and contains such delights as torched kasundi mackerel and samphire pakoras. They have a private dining area to fit 14 guests.
Inspired by Indian gymkhana clubs, Gymkhana is a well renowned Michelin starred restaurant in Mayfair. With a classic and contemporary focus on their food, they also pride themselves on a varied drinks menu including Indian punches, Indian spirits and a range of spiced cocktails. The restaurant offers two private dining vaults which can seat up to 9 or 14, and the restaurant is also able to be exclusively hired, seating 50 guests on the ground floor and 50 guests on the lower ground floor.
With restaurants in The City and The West End, Mint Leaf offers sophisticated Indian dining in a relaxed setting. The restaurant can be hired exclusively for lunches, dinners or private parties and can accommodate 300 for a canapé and drinks reception. Their City location also has a lounge bar, two private dining rooms, and a champagne bar available for hire.
Designed in the style of a smart colonial-era gentleman’s club, Jamavar is a stylish restaurant in Mayfair. Their food is a take on upmarket street food, with small plates such as adraki lamb chops, rabbit nihari, lobster Idli Sambhar and venison anda samosas. The restaurant has a host of exclusive spaces for events including a private dining room overlooking their garden, a semi-private dining area for 32 and an exclusive-use bar.
Opening in summer this year, Temper City is a delightful mix of gin, New World wines and curry cooked over an open firepit. The full venue can be hired for 250 guests, or they also offer a semi-private mezzanine for 60 guests.
