Later this month, our team of event planners will take a group of 150 top performers to the magnificent Ho Chi Minh City for the trip of a lifetime. From a private cocktail reception atop a dazzling skyscraper to an exclusive gala dinner in the opulent Botanical Gardens, the incentive programme makes the most of this stand-out destination. Below we catch up with Project Manager, Jessica Wickham, to tell us all about her recent visit…
Once the legendary city of Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is a vibrant melody of old world opulence and energetic skylines. It’s collection of luxury hotels and characteristic venues serve plenty of opportunities for memorable backdrops whilst a rich history and entertainment sector provides a full range of recreational activities.
I was lucky enough to explore the best of the city, visiting a total of eight luxury hotels including Vietnam’s hotel of 2018, the stunning InterContinental Saigon. Despite its grand size serving 305 guest rooms, this classically elegant property feels more like a boutique with a central location minutes from the city’s own Notre Dame Cathedral.
The Park Hyatt was also a stand out with its striking French colonial style. 245 rooms surround the tranquil gardens and outdoor pool whilst a luxury spa embraces the peaceful essence of the famous Mekong Delta. This vast maze of rivers and miniature islands made for one of the highlights of the trip; slowly sailing among the terrain in a traditional rowing boat, before discovering a local village off shore.
Tranquillity is also found within the vast number of Chinese temples dotted throughout the city. Due to a large Chinese population, Vietnam has a tight knit Buddhist community and its practice is seen within these intricate buildings. Pink tags displaying names of donors line the walls whilst the scent of incense clouds the entrance.
Unmissable experiences also include travelling around the city in a restored war jeep and an insightful tour of the underground Cu Chi War Tunnels; a network of hideouts and living quarters used by the Vietnamese War soldiers.
Among its skyscrapers and busy city life, Ho Chi Minh is packed with history and culture, whilst more tranquil experiences are just minutes away. For a group who enjoy city life with a difference, this upcoming destination comes highly recommended.
