Charity event fundraiser in aid of Brainwave

Posted on 8.12.2011
by Nicola Sykes

Leigh Cowlishaw, European Account Director at Banks Sadler, joined Principal Haley Hotels and Conference Venues' corporate team as well as 8,000 other runners for the recent 10km Leeds Abbey Dash. The event, organised by Age UK, sees runner take on a fast and virtually flat course around Leeds, with the fastest runner coming in at just under 30 minutes.

Principal Hayley Hotels and Conference Venues is a collection of 24 hotels and conference venues across the UK and Europe. Their corporate team ran on behalf of their nominated charity Brainwave, an independent charity that helps children with a disability or Developmental Delay including brain injury, genetic conditions and Autism. The Brainwave Programme aims to achieve as much progress as possible in physical, developmental and cognitive areas and was named the hotel group’s Charity of the Year.

Leigh Cowlishaw said: “It was a great day although my legs weren't thanking me the next day! This cause is close to mine and my family's heart and I was very proud to be able to support Principal Hayley in helping fundraise for Brainwave. The atmosphere was electric!”

The runners managed to raise over £300 which will be used to enhance the lives of children across the country.
